Rosalie Gerut
Rosalie is the daughter of Holocaust survivors, a legacy that has deeply impacted her life which began in poverty and fear as a non-English speaking refugee in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. Fortunately, she was blessed with the gift of music and this later led to extraordinary experiences as a self-taught, award-winning singer, composer, actress, concert artist and recording artist/producer. She has composed songs for musical theater productions including the score for “Songs of Paradise” which premiered at Joseph Papp’s Public Theater in NYC. She appeared in leading roles in other theatrical productions and has presented concerts internationally. However, the pains of her legacy would not let up and led her to seek ways to overcome its impact by studying and practicing in the fields of psychology and spirituality. She has led healing groups of various types for many years but the one that did the most for her personally began with her participation in a research study with other children of survivors and those of the Nazi regime. This uplifting, life-changing experience led her and her colleagues to create a Dialogue Group concept for polarized groups and to found a non-profit organization, One-by-One, Inc., in order to share these hope-filled, transformative adventures with others. Over the past 20 years, Rosalie and her colleagues have collected some amazing personal stories by people from many parts of the world who were moved by this work. These accounts will be appearing in an upcoming book, “Journeys of Transformation: Confronting the Legacies of Conflict, War & Genocide.” |
