Mahboba Akhtarzadah
Mahboba is originally from Afghanistan. She finished high school in Afghanistan and came to the United States in 2013 on a scholarship for her undergraduate education majoring in Information Technology at Southern New Hampshire University. After graduation she first worked with SNHU and then moved to Virginia where she is currently working as a Software Engineer with a United States government subcontractor. Education and the fight for education, especially for women, has always been her mission. As a child she was diagnosed with Polio, which made it especially hard for her as a disabled woman in Afghanistan to pursue her education. When she came to the States, not many people knew about Afghanistan, Afghan women, and Polio in Afghanistan. To help people understand, and to overcome stereotypes, Mahboba started to speak up and offer motivational presentations. She is now enrolled in a master's program in cyber security. Her long term goals are to become a U.S. citizen and continue to share her passion for education for all people. |
